After graduating, Shane took a position with Koontz McCombs working in real estate development. During his tenure with Koontz, he took an interest in the downtown area and the urban lifestyle. He also realized his desire to be ‘his own boss’. Pulling his interests and desires together resulted in his first San Antonio business venture — ped-ads.com — a marketing company that uses bicycles moving briskly through downtown to advertise.
As his business grew, so did Shane’s interest and passion for downtown San Antonio. He’s actively involved in community organizations and participates in San Antonio2020 public events. He is the creator and owner of the MySouthtown Facebook page, designed to provide news and information about Blue Star, King William and Lavaca. Shane designed the logo for MySouthtown, which incorporates elements from all three of those Southtown areas.
In 2011, Shane started his second San Antonio business — The Bike Waiter — which partners with local area restaurants and provides delivery services, using bicycles. The Bike Waiter recently won the Downtown Alliance 2012 Best New Business Award.
2011 was a very special year for Shane for another reason though… Shane and Heather celebrated the birth of their first child, Bishop. Shane and Heather are both very close to their families and enjoy spending time with them. Shane’s parents are still in Houston, but his sister and her family live here in San Antonio.
Shane enjoys family dinners, going to the lake, golf, tennis, anything that involves a tube and the water, and cold beer. Though he hasn’t taken time for a vacation in a while, a few of his favorite vacation spots have been the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and Palm Springs. He’s hoping to be sipping Mai Tai’s with Heather soon on a tropical beach somewhere.
Shane, Heather and Bishop drop in on our neighborhood Happy Hour get-together when they can, so say hello the next time you see them!
