Paula is a native Texan and was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle. Paula graduated from Texas Tech University and received her Masters Degree from Northeastern State College in Oklahoma. Upon graduation from Texas Tech, Paula worked for the Red Cross in Vietnam. After spending one year in Vietnam, she came back to the states and was commissioned in the Air Force. She also served in the Pentagon and her last assignment was at the National Security Agency. Paula lived in Annapolis Maryland prior to moving to San Antonio.
Upon retirement from the military, Paula was the assistant director at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. She left San Antonio to become the director of the Los Angeles National Cemetery. She retired for a second time and moved back to San Antonio.
Paula lived on the Riverwalk for several years before buying her house on Barrera Street. She has lived in Lavaca for two years.
Paula is presently on the board of directors for the San Antonio State Hospital. She is also very involved with the American Red Cross. If you see the Red Cross Truck in front of her house, you’ll know she is the “Disaster Captain” for that week. During the week that she serves as the disaster captain, she’s called out for fire and other disasters within the San Antonio area.
Paula has two grown children. Her son lives in Annapolis Maryland and her daughter is in the Air Force and is presently stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. She is assigned to the Air Force Thunderbirds and travels throughout the world with them.
