In 2004, when Gerry told Terry they were moving to Texas, she thought “who lives in Texas?” Well, she soon got an answer: LOTS of creative, talented and warm people.
Originally from Wisconsin, they began renting at the Refugio Place apartments. After exploring the RiverWalk, the Gulf, Southtown, BlueStar and their favorites la Tuna and the Acapulco Drive-in, they fell in love with the area and decided to find a home here in the neighborhood.
They found the perfect spot on Barrera Street, and began renovation in 2005. In 2007, they moved to Dallas for a job change, and stayed there for two years. Terry retired from her job with the airlines in 2009 and they came back to their home on Barrera Street.
Last year, in June, Terry hosted a small showing of neighborhood art at a party in their home. They will be doing it again this year, on August 12th, and hope you can come! So, mark your calendar.
Gerry is the treasurer for the Lavaca Neighborhhood Association. When he’s not enjoying his home and the neighborhood, he works at UPS in sales. Terry works for the Grand Hyatt as a concierge in the hotel’s Grand Club.
They just celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary. They enjoy their three children and four grandchildren, their backyard, dancing, travel and the arts.
