In a recent newsletter, we told you that the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) has plans for two projects that could be good for Lavaca. A representative from SAHA will attend our meeting next week to tell us more about these two projects and to get your input and feedback.
First, SAHA intends to organize a Farmers Market in the open area immediately west of the new HemisView apartments — just east of Labor Street and south of Durango. This is part of an initiative to fight obesity by promoting healthy eating.
Second, SAHA plans to renovate the old SAHA administration building at the corner of Labor and Refugio. The renovations will include a slight expansion of the space to support an early education program, an office for the Lavaca Neighborhood Association, and general refurbishment of the building and grounds.
