The city intends to redevelop the area in and immediately surrounding Hemisfair Park, and that redevelopment will have a huge impact on our neighborhood.
Planning is still in early stages, but the planners have put together a “Framework” that outlines a big-picture view of how the area will be developed. If this Framework is approved by the City Council, the planning team will begin filling in details.
The Framework was presented to the public in a meeting at Sunset Station that was attended by hundreds of people, including a large number of Lavaca residents. Feedback at that meeting was largely positive.
At the general meeting on Tuesday evening, a representative of HPARC (the Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation) will be on-hand to present the Framework to our membership. If you didn’t make it to the public meeting — or even if you did — this will be a great opportunity to see the Framework up close and to ask questions and offer feedback.
Because we’ll have other items on the agenda, the presentation and discussion will be limited to thirty minutes.
